Mind Body Connection and Trauma
‘Just as the water reflects the stars and the moon, the body reflects the mind and the soul’- Rumi
.
The body and mind connection. The communication between the body and mind is something we can influence and set the stage for translation and collaboration.
‘You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them’ – Maya Angelou

‘There is more wisdom in your body than in your deepest philosophy’- Friedrich Nietzsche
Our internal state instantaneously filters into our bodies, creating a physiological state, this builds our external reality. We have a choice we can choose to bring awareness and change the way we feel inside. Which then changes our external world to become deliberate and intentional of our desired outcomes.

‘Trauma is an internal psychological wound with manifestations in the body’- Gabor Mate
Trauma begins to heal when the body feels safe. We can make change by creating it through our bodies to change the way we feel inside. Choosing and creating regulation strategies through resetting our nervous system.
.
It is an mind/body and external/internal loop. It is a powerful process of establishing communication between the intrinsic mind body connection.
.
How can you listen and bring awareness to your body and mind? What internal issues are showing up in your body? How can you use your body to change the way you feel? What are you tolerating? What changes do you need, to allow you to move forward?
.
I, like many others, live with Chronic illness and Autoimmune disease. We have all suffered trauma, big and small. We all need to do the work, internal and external, to make positive changes, to live our best life and to become the most authentic version of ourselves.

Trauma is a psychological wound which can manifest itself in our cycles of behaviour and illness and disease in our body.
We have an innate ability within us to heal.
Our mind body and spirit are one entity

Self care is essential
The path to healing is an ongoing journey
Acceptance of our experience and our self is so important
Empathy is the gift my struggle has given me

Life gives us opportunities to make paradigm shifts
One of these for me was when I was diagnosed with a very rare chronic autoimmune disease and nearly died. I started running age 35 after 3 kids. I was running for so many reasons, but I was running away from my problems. In the last 15 years of running I have become a double world champion, a two times European champion and a Uk record holder. My liver disease became stable but I have had 7 stress fractures and many reoccurring infections. In 2020 I stopped, we all did it was the global pandemic. I started doing the work to become conscious to my coping mechanisms, issues and trauma.I have not had a stress fractures or infections (other than covid) for three years. My gut issues disappeared. This is what made me train to be a holistic coach and NLP practitioner because I want to help others on their healing journey to be able to optimise their lives and feel better. If I can do it, you can too
